Spiders & Scarecrow Preview

Last week we studied letter S and SSSSSSpiders.  Although I am not a huge fan of spiders myself my kiddos sure do LOVE learning about those scary hairy things!  ;)  We did a cute anchor chart about spiders but I FORGOT to take a pic (shame on me), read Miss Spider's Tea Party, learned all kinds of spider facts, and made a cute spider craft.

This is the book that I use to teach
my kiddos spider facts.
It is a GREAT informational text.

and lastly...Here is a preview my new scarecrow unit that I just uploaded to TPT just in time for our Scarecrow unit next week.  :)
Next up Pumpkins.  Stay tuned!  :)

Letter Order & Thanksgiving Preview

I have had tons of e-mails about what order I teach letters/themes so I decided I would do a blog post.  As I have mentioned before our school uses Scott Foresman Reading Street so most of the themes that I teach go along with the "letter of the week" (however there are a few that don't).  Here is a list of the themes/letters in order that I do 1st semester:

Hope this helps.  ;)

On another note, I just finished up and posted my Thanksgiving unit on TPT.  This pack is HUGE and would be a great resource to use the whole month of November.  Click on the pic below to go
check it out.  :)

T is for Teddy Bear

As many of you know from reading this little blog that I LOVE to teach thematically so it was only fitting to work on teddy bear activities to go along with our letter Tt study.  Of course we worked on LOTS of math and literacy skills during centers, some cute theme activities, and then a teddy bear picnic for the finale.  Check out some of our teddy bear fun below.

**These teddy bear centers can be found in my Teddy Bear Math & Literacy unit on TPT.
