Lakeshore Learning, Oh SO Fun!

So, the sweet people at Lakeshore Learning contacted me and asked me to review some of their products and let me tell you I was SO excited because I am one of their BIGGEST fans.  I absolutely love their stuff and I have tons of their games.
Of course phonics is a super important skill that we work on in kindergarten as well as keeping those darn shoes laced/tied (do any of you kinder teachers feel like you tie about 100 shoes a day :)) so this Language Lacer phonics game worked perfectly for my kiddos.  It is super cute and kid friendly and while your kiddies think they are playing this fun game they are actually learning/practicing several different skills.
Another skill that is important for Kindergarten is learning our shapes as well as  sorting and this little gem does exactly that.  This is Shape Sorting game is magnetic  (which is fantastic because the pieces do not  slide around) and has 40 magnets that are used for matching environmental shapes to the 8 basic shapes.  Another thing that is great about this game is that it helps your students to learn to identify shapes in their real world.

Sounds like a WIN, WIN to me.  :)
If you are interested in either of these games you can visit http://www.lakeshorelearning.com and you can enjoy up to 15.00 off your next purchase. :)  See coupon below.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Fun!

This week our theme was Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.  This is always a fun unit and a great way to wrap up learning letters A-Z before we begin focusing on a letter of the week (our reading program is Scott Foresman Reading Street).  Below you can check out some of the literacy and math centers that we worked on as well as some theme time fun!  :)
You can find all of the above activities in my
Chicka Shape Tree
We had a Chicka Party, ate REAL coconut, and drank a coconut smoothie.
We used our 5 senses to explore a coconut.
(saw this idea on Mrs. Jump's CUTE blog)
 We tasted coconut
 and drank a coconut smoothie

and then we graphed...Do you like the taste of coconut?

Brown Bear Fun!

The past two weeks we have been working on Brown Bear activities.  This is always how I begin the year teaching colors.  The kids always love this book and it is a
GREAT resource to use.
These were some of the activities that we did for literacy.  You can find all of them in my
Brown Bear Beginning of Kindergarten fun unit except for the Brown Bear Letter Roll.  :)
We also made this cute little guy to go along with our Brown Bear theme.  You can get the texture book and this craft and much more in mine and Julie's Brown Bear and Friends Activities pack.

Now, how about a little fun...
If you would like a chance to win my Brown Bear Beginning of Kindergarten Fun unit leave a comment telling me your favorite teaching funny you have experienced this year.  All comments must be posted before 11:59 tonight.  I will do a drawing first thing in the morning for 2 lucky winners.  Please be sure that you leave your e-mail address in your comment so I can get in touch with you.
Hope everyone had a GREAT week!
