Green Monsters & Shape Monsters

Today was Green Day!  Green day is a always a blast because we do some really fun activities with the book Go Away Big Green Monster by Ed Emberley--this is definitely a must read on green day!  We made our very own green monsters as well as a class BIG monster.  This activity is always so much fun!

We also have been learning our shapes this week 

and today we made shape monster glyphs.

Brown Bear Activities & Center Fun

WOW!  What a great first FULL week of school we have had.  :)  Our system decided that since we would be starting on a Monday this year that it would be best if our Kinders only did half days and MAN what a difference it has made.  I feel like my kiddos know SO much for it to only be the 2nd week of school and they are all doing great!  We continued with the book Brown Bear this week.  Here is a look at what all we accomplished this week.

   

We are making a Brown Bear book.  Here are the first 5 pages.

Monday-we painted the bear with hot chocolate/paint/shaving cream

Tuesday-we glued torn tissue paper to the bird

Wednesday-we glued yellow yarn to the duck

Thursday-we put blue glitter on the horse

Friday-we put green crinkle paper on the frog

Cricut Creations! :)

I have had my cricut for about a year now but I am just got around to doing somethings for my classroom this summer.  Here are some of my creations.  :)

This is a REALLY old cardboard mail center that was falling apart that a fellow teacher of mine was giving away so I got my sweet husband to glue it back together and spray it purple and I cut out the cute numbers on my Cricut and here is the finished product.  Cute HUH?  :)

I always tape some sort of dicut to the floor for my kiddos to stand on and they ALWAYS end up looking pitiful by Christmas so this year i tried something different.  I used my Cricut to cut out circles and numbers and then I put the vinyl on the floor.

I will let you know how it works.  :)

What an AWESOME first week of Kindergarten!!!!  One of my favorite books to read at the beginning of the school year is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?  My kiddos always love to read it and the best part about it is that you can use it to teach so many things.

These are the cards that I used to go on our Brown Bear Tour of the school.  I placed these throughout the school in places that my kiddos need to know how to find.  For example, I had one by the restroom, the office, the gym, the library, etc.

First Day of Kindergarten!!!

 Yesterday was the first day of school and boy did we have lots of fun!  Since we began the school year on a Monday our Kinders went home at 11:00 only giving us a few short hours together.  Although we were only together for a short time we sure did learn a lot.  I have some of the sweeties babies and I know this is going to be a GREAT year!  :)  Here are some pictures from our very first day of K!

We also sang some Heidi Songs.This is also a DVD that is a must have! 

You will be absolutely AMAZED at how much these will help your little ones to learn their letters and sounds quickly.
